Million People March @ Ayala

The protest against the “pork barrel” funds took its second run last Friday (August 4, 2013) at Ayala Avenue in Makati City. Staged by the same organizers of the first Million People March at Luneta, they hope to gravitate support from the working class of the financial district as well as support from the business community. Site was at the intersection of Ayala Avenue and Paseo de Roxas streets, used to be airport runways in the early 1900s. Scenes during the protest at Ayala A stage was set-up complete with lights and sound systems that saw various local performers took turns in entertaining the crowd with speeches from know personalities of the anti-pork groups. A giant golden pig made of papier-mache was paraded on the streets during the culmination to the actual program. The protest rally started at 3PM and ended way after 10pm with an estimated 3000 people. Noted personalities during the event included former Archbishop Oscar Cruz, NBN-ZTE whistle-blower Jun Lozada, and Juana Change.
