Mazda’s Medium Rare Art Show

Mazda Pasig opened recently the “Medium Rare Art Show” featuring the mixture of functional and sculptural works by Joey De Castro and Gabby Tiongson at the showroom in C5 (E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue). Acoustic live music permeates throughout the event attended by the car industry media as well as art aficionados. The exhibit is ongoing until November 9, 2013. Honda CR-Z Launch

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. launched the all-new CR-Z at the NBC Tent in Bonifacio Global City last August 5, 2013. CR-Z stands for Compact Renaissance Zero, a sports hybrid coupe, which represents Honda’s commitment to go back to the point of origin (zero) to take on the challenge to create a new compact car without being bound by the values of traditional coupés. 3 Variants of the Honda CR-Z The new CR-Z uses a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine as the main source of power with an electric motor, Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist (IMA), which is capable of delivering maximum power of 136 ps @ 6600 rpm and maximum torque of 19.4 kg-m for the 6-speed manual transmission and 135 ps @ 6600 rpm and maximum torque of 17.4 kg-m for the Continuously Variable transmission (CVT 7-speed mode with paddle shifters). The model comes in 3 variants: the Standard, the Modulo, and the Mugen; with each variant available in manual or CVT transmission. CVMP Fatluk 2013

Facebook Group Come Visit My Philippines (CVMP) held its ever popular fatluk (potluck) at Josephine’s Tagaytay last July 15, 2013. Spearheaded by Ms. Bessie Badilla and attended by other administrators and members from as far as Palawan in the Philippines to Tampa, Florida in the United States; each member brought foods to share: from native pancit dishes to a variety of kakanin (sticky rice cakes). The centerpiece of the potluck is of course, the ever popular lechon! A short program was held after the food fest wherein invitations to visit some members’ provinces was announced, plus a promised of a even bigger gathering in December. F1 in Manila

Manila got a taste of F1 racing excitement over the weekend as the Lotus F1 Team brought over Marlon Stockinger, the only Filipino to win the GT3 in 2012. The event started with a press conference presided by Lotus F1 principal Eric Boullier, Business Manager Martin Reiss, Marlon’s father Tom Stockinger and of course, Marlon himself. A gala night follows on that same day at the Manila Hotel’s Tent City wherein a spectacular cultural dance and Philippine fashion was presented. The F1 car, a Renault 30 was officially unveiled with a lifesize mannequin of Marlon Stockinger in a racesuit. Attended by the Mayor of Manila, Fred Lim, numerous celebrities, captains of different industries and the motoring media, the quiet ambiance that usually characterize the vicinity of the hotel was aroused by the sound of the screeching engine as the crew revs up the mighty racecar. The following day saw Marlon and NPDC Director Jet Villegas unveiled the Kilometer Zero marker in Rizal Park, the marker is the official point where all distances in the country are respectively measured. AXE’s Sexy Saves Boracay

Axe Philippines gave Metro Manila’s driving population one sexy time last October 27 at the Aseana City Grounds with the AXE Anarchy Island Bikini Car Wash. Axe had their hottest girls go wet and wild on people’s rides to raise funds to preserve and promote their favorite island in the country. They are out to clean the beaches of Boracay by matching the funds raised from the sexy car wash. To save the beaches of Boracay, Axe Philippines partnered with Hands On Manila, a foundation that gives Filipinos fun ways to volunteer their time. One of their flagship projects, Hands On Volunteer Vacations (HOVV), locals and foreigners may volunteer for community service as part of their vacation itineraries. Through Hands On Manila, volunteering can be fitted into daily schedules even for the busiest people, making it a great way to make a difference – an ideal for young people everywhere. Pahiyas Festival

Celebrated every May 15 at the town of Lucban, Quezon and in honor of San Isidro Labrador, the pahiyas festival is a colorful occasion for a bounty harvest. The houses are decorated with produce, from ginger to whole banana trees and thin rice wafers called kiping dyed in multiple colors that can be eaten after the celebration. Tourists both local and foreign flock to town not only to see the decorated houses and join the festivities, but also to taste two of Lucban’s famous food: pancit habhab and longanisa. The fiesta centers at the church and the patron saint St. Isidro is paraded around the town, taking different routes each year so that every house can be blessed. A contest is also held with a large pot of money going to the best decorated house in town. VRs taken on May 15, 2012. 8th Manila International Auto Show

The biggest car show in the country officially open to the public on March 29 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City with MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino as guest of honor. The first day of the exhibit saw the launch of several new car models from Ford, Subaru, Mini and Hyundai, each one accompanied with their own dazzling opening performance. Precision driver Russ Swift will once again take on the wheels of a Subaru to wow the crowd in his 6th year of performance in Manila. Parked in-front of the exhibit center is local group Opcentec; which displays Filipino made combat and rescue amphibious vehicles and remote operated drones. Participated by over 30 automotive brands and close to 300 cars on display, the exhibit runs until April 1. Entrance fee is at 100 pesos, opening hours is from 10AM to 10PM. 3rd Pyromusical Competition

The Philippine is once again the host country of the International Pyromusical Competition. Now on its third year, this year’s event is participated by the countries: Korea, Malta, UK, Spain, Finland, Portugal, China, The Netherlands, Australia, Canada and Italy. 26th EDSA Celebrations

The nation marks the 26th Anniversary of the EDSA Revolution last February 25 at the People Power Monument lead by President Benigno S. Aquino III. The program was highlighted with the signing of pledges from several provincial governors including the President who wrote “Gawin ang tama sa araw-araw tungo sa nagtatapos ng laban ng EDSA”, translate as “Do good everyday towards the end of fighting in EDSA.” The EDSA Foundation awarded two youths for their effort of bringing solar lamps to remote communities. The traditional “Salubong” or meet-up between the civilian and military factions was re-enacted followed by the showering of confetti from a PAF chopper which passes overhead. President Aquino’s speech centered on the economy of the country. The Cercado sisters rendered the song “Magkaisa” and Freddie Aguilar sang “Bayan Ko” to the delight of the crowd. CVMP Fatluk at Tagaytay

The Come Visit My Philippines (CVMP) Facebook page was started by Bessie Badilla, Alex Baguio and Francois Medina; inspired by an article of Tourism Sec. Mon Jimenez, they started posting images of the Philippines in an effort to entice more tourists as well as to showcase the beauty of our country. The group has since ballooned to over 32,000 members and still growing. Last December 21, at the picturesque Josephine’s Restaurant in Tagaytay, the group held its first ever gathering with no less than Sec. Mon Jimenez in attendance. More than a hundred members show up for the simple potluck; there was an overflowing of food, specialties that even came from different provinces; at the end of the event, the leftovers were donated to a nearby orphanage. The group also sold CVMP theme t-shirts with the entire profit going to the victims of the recent flooding in Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and Dumaguete. Here are the rest of the 360 panoramas.
