FVR Graces Masskara, Launches Zipline

October 18, 2013, former President Fidel V. Ramos arrived in Bacolod-Silay airport this morning and graces the annual Masskara Festival. He was welcome with a reception breakfast by Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentebella together with Chinese Consul Zhang Wei Gou at Cityhall. After giving a rousing speech, the convoy with the former president traveled to Brgy. Igmayaan in Don Salvador Benedicto, a place located at 500 meters above sea level with a Tagaytay-like weather. He first planted a pine tree before proceeding to launched a 1.7km long “Everest zipline” spearheaded by members of the 1st Philippine Mt. Everest Team headed by team leader Art Valdez, expedition doctor Ted Esguerra, mountaineering legend Fred Jamili, and Everest summiteers Pastour Emata and Carina Dayongdong. FVR also cut the ribbon for a road near the barangay that was named in his honor as well as visited the ancestral house of Juan Anacleto Araneta, he also planted another tree at the garden.
